To honor her personal evolution, our design strategy creates a seamless dialogue between past and present. We preserved the home’s storied soul while infusing it with a crisp, contemporary spirit, pairing timeless architectural details with forward-thinking luxury.
We elevated the room's bones by carrying a soothing, muted sage paint across the walls and trim, including our new architectural additions: a round ceiling medallion and dentil crown molding. This enveloping color-drench technique frames the space in deep, ancestral character while keeping the atmosphere vibrant, expansive, and thoroughly chic. Grounding the layout with warmth and narrative, a lustrous wooden antique dresser introduces an element of lived-in history. It serves as an understated, classic counterweight to the sleeker elements around it. This discipline is a nod to our signature approach: layering heritage heirlooms with innovative, modern design.
Serving as the room's striking anchor for entertaining, a dark bluestone dining table brings earthy, grounded elegance to the center of the space. We paired it with alluring, mid-century-inspired rounded-back chairs and deep plum channeled-velvet captain’s chairs (a fabric choice directly inspired by our client’s favorite cocktail dress). The result is a tactile mix of textures designed for lingering long past the last course. To balance privacy with abundant natural light, we layered sweeping full-length drapes over charming café curtains. Custom-crafted from a textile designed by a watercolor artist, the botanical print infuses fluid movement, subtle grace, and organic warmth into the room's structured lines.
Suspended overhead, a modern brass ring chandelier fitted with frosted globe diffusers acts as a radiant crown jewel. Its sculptural geometry echoes the glamour of the home's origin era, casting an inviting, ambient glow made for late-night toasts. Ultimately, this space stands as a thoughtful reflection of its host: anchored in rich heritage, glowing in the present, and beautifully primed for everything yet to come.
"This space was the final piece of the puzzle after moving in. I am completely in love with how it turned out! I finally feel truly settled and at home, and I can't wait to host my first dinner party here."
