A chic couple and their 6-year-old little girl built their forever home in Wrentham, MA. Their happily ever after included an unexpected lower level oozing edgy, sexy, mid-century modern glam. With 2,500 SF of unfinished space, our clients’ desires for impressive wine storage and a personal gym, we got right to work. We carved the space into seven zones that align with their lifestyle: lounge area, family room, gym, powder room, walk-in pantry, under-the-stair secret play space and unfinished storage.
The grand centerpiece, a fifteen-foot-long chevron-shelved wine bar with panel fridges and a quartz countertop, is a custom creation. Buttery leather lounge seating is warmed by woolly poufs. The home gym, complete with high contrast wall covering and every piece of equipment you could imagine, would motivate any couch potato.
Layered textiles (wall hanging, wool rugs, velvet sofa and custom draperies) create coziness galore. Mixed materials (marble, brass, wood, concrete) add interest and dimension. The hand-made maple custom wall slats provide architectural detail; perfectly framing the graphic wall mural connecting these very distinct zones. We didn’t just want to design the spaces, we wanted to create a mood.

"We’re thrilled with the work Kristen and her team did to transform our basement from a blank canvas into the space of our dreams. She has the most exceptional way to make you feel comfortable, yet push the limits so that the ordinary becomes extraordinary."
