ENTERTAINING in LIVABLE LUXURY

An open-door policy isn't for everyone, but for these homeowners, it's a house rule.  Since weather can be tricky, we needed to craft indoor and outdoor entertaining spaces both with equal elegance, comfort and style.  A re-imagined dining room and a backyard renovation was in order.

During the pandemic, the dining room became a “classroom” and the only thing it entertained was the homeowners' frustrating memories. Now, a daily dose of sunlight enhances the light taupe wall paint and the custom linen draperies speak to the tailored, yet approachable vibe. A soapstone table grounds the space and the reeded sideboard's smokey wood and marble top oozes luxury. The ceiling takes center stage with an ocelot print “hand-painted” wallpaper under the gilded glow of an olive leaf light.  

Creating an outdoor living space that's pool party-ready in minutes called for a collaboration with a landscape designer. We prioritized the tension between organic and modern styles and chose materials with both natural and structured properties. The sleek, rectangular pool counterbalances the perfectly imperfect diving rock (found behind their home). To provide a resort experience, spillover fountains flank a trough of fresh flowers. Generous landscaping creates a lush, hotel-like paradise for their family.

With blended layers of style,  a thoughtful design plus a few unexpected twists, the project culminated with an effortlessly sophisticated home that fits the beautiful chaos of real life.
