The mission? Design an elevated, effortlessly chic, multi-use space that stands up to March Madness parties, movie nights and sleepovers – but make it edgy and fun. During construction we created distinct “zones”, each with its own purpose, and based on our clients’ goals. The fun part was figuring out how to unify the zones so the open floor plan felt seamless.
The wine bar and hoop area, was created for a wine-loving high school basketball coach. We tricked out the hoop wall with picture frame molding and commissioned a custom-made, brasserie-style, brass and glass wine bar across the way. The linear fireplace, a sexy “must-have” feature, steals the show and since this isn’t your average basement, we added custom draperies with Schumacher trim for an elegant touch. The unexpected blue, lantern-style chandelier ties in with the binding of the custom, cut-to-fit wool area rug and stair runner.
Our client’s wife, an esteemed teacher and avid reader, longed for a quiet reading nook and a craft/game table. We transformed an awkward space under the stairs and left plenty room for open play and an antique, multi-purpose dining table. We managed to also include a full bathroom with a spacious shower and vanity sink with lots of attitude.
This fully-custom lower level shows how eclectic plays nicely with classic in a space built for grownups, growing children, and all the things they love best.
With creativity, collaboration, and fun as the soul of our process, we aim for excellence and unapologetically sweat the big and small stuff alike.
Integrity matters. We do what we say and follow through on our promises.
